Planning Russia : The trip idea

Untuk birthday tahun ini, rasanya nak buat kelainan sikit. Give myself a birthday treat. My only wish was to have a holiday trip with my parents. Yes, only me and my parents yang membesarkan aku ni selama ini. Meaning no wife and kids.

Sebelum-sebelum ini pernah je gi holiday dengan my parents but setelah kawin, semua trip mesti dengan anak-anak dan wife. Memang sesungguhnya lebih seronok. Tapi ada banyak masanya, tidak semua kemahuan dapat dituruti especially bab itinerari. Disebabkan age gap sangat jauh, minat masing-masing jauh berbeza. Orang tua tak kisah pun kalau ikutkan minat anak2. Anak2 pun x de la berkehendakkan sangat, bukan tahu apa pun. Tapi as a planner, merancang sebegini tak berapa menyeronokkan.

Oleh itu, aku pun beri cadangan ni firstly to my wife. Tak abis ayat dia dah setuju. Dia kata by all means... Please... Do it. And gi ahead. Gi la mana-mana pun. 

Then aku try approach adik beradik if anyone want to tag along. So long as tak bawak your own family. My elder bro can't commit. While my younger bro says ok at first. Cumanya later dia pujuk nak bawak anak bini jugak. Which i finally i said ok. 

My parents x berapa minat at first. Sebab dia suka je jalan dengan cucu. But i said to then that this trip is for them. I would like to serve them. Asyik dengar diaorg enjoy travel dengan kawan2 je. Now it is time to have itinerary yg suits them better. Dan ikut kederat dan kemahuan mereka. Although they are at their 70s, kederat masih ada dan masih selalu je ber holiday dan bawa kawan2 diaorg gi holiday. And finally they agreed. 

So where is the destination... Some place new. Not too big to cover. Since my parents i would say have covered at least 1/3 of the world. Europe is no longer interesting for them except for Switzerland but aku baru je pergi. Africa diaorg tak minat. Asia... Hmm... Takde menarik sebab jepun diaorg lagi expert. 

So ntah macam mana tetiba keluar nama Moscow. Actually thanks to my wife, dia yang beriya nak ke situ. But after did some reading, tempat tu mcm kurang menarik untuk anak2. So aku rasa sgt sesuai bawak my parents... And they agreed instantly. 

And secara kebetulan. Boleh pulak keluar tiket murah via Thai Airways to Moscow. RM1600 per pax. Timing cantik. Aku nak book. Dpt jumpa tix pukul 9 lebih, bila ready to book pukul 2, semua tiket habis... Untuk harga murah tu lah. Parents a bit kecewa.

Later, after a couple of weeks jumpa pula tix via vietnam airlines. Timing x berapa best and harga slightly mahal. My parents mula nya taknak pergi sebab ralat dengan harga murah sebelum. Lagi satu diaorg memikirkan kos nak dapatkan visa, dia dah cek dengan kawan agensi, RM700. Itupun agensi di KL je. tapi akhirnya setuju sebab diaorg x akan ke Moscow sesama kawan. Ini lah peluang nya... (we shall discuss pasal visa in the next entry). 

So beberapa hari sudah... Kami dah pun beli tiket ke Moscow. We'll be travelling in September insyaAllah. Now the time to plan. Ada 3 bulan saja lagi untuk plan... Here go... The fun part. 

Quick trip : Melaka

Mak ayah ajak buat small event with the whole family. Kind of family getaway. Katanya dah lama tak ber together gather...  While ber together gather, we celebrated our parents 46 years of marriage. Birthday of everyone hahaha... 

So with a very short notice, we booked a place via airbnb in Melaka. Mula nak duduk kat sentral Melaka. Tapi finally kami stay di Alai. Rumah dia besar. Ada banyak facilities especially game room dia kat tingkat paling atas. Bersih. Kualiti towel dan bedsheet pun bagus, cuma macam tak menarik bila kena remind kalau bedsheet tersangat kotor depa nak caj RM200.

Makan-makan... yes we went to Klebang Coconut Shake, Asam Pedas Pak Man Jalan Ujong Pasir, of course Ikan Bakar Alai... semua sedap :-) tapi satu pun tak sempat nak ambil gambar, pegang anak.

Malaysian Dads Photo Contest - IKEA & Swedish Embassy

Bulan sudah, aku terjumpa iklan dari Ikea pasa Malaysian Dads Competition anjuran IKEA dan Swedish Embassy. So saja-saja lah aku nak join. Ye lah, seronok jadi bapak. So aku submit lah this entry through facebook.

Out of 500 lebih kot.. ke 600 peserta... ntah macam mana, aku dipilih dalam top 10. So datang lah cameraman org perancis dari hired by the organiser ke rumah. Untuk ambil gambar. Gambar-gambar ni akan di pamerkan di National Art Gallery katanya.

Thanks to all the dads who submitted photos to our contest. We have been inspired by your stories of life at home and touched by the moments you shared. A team at IKEA and the Swedish Embassy of Malaysia have been pouring over more than 500 photo entries and choosing ten finalists has been no easy task! We made our decisions on a mix of factors – the moment captured, the insight into everyday life it provided and the nature of the message.
We were spoiled for choices and our decisions are, of course, subjective. Here are the top 10 finalists who have been chosen to receive a professional photoshoot and be featured in the ‘Malaysian Dads’ photo exhibition at the National Art Gallery from 1 November 2017 to 31 March 2018 and at MyTown Shopping Centre from 20 to 30 November 2017. We thank everyone for their participation and enthusiasm!

So last week, diaorg dah umum kan pemenang. Although kami tak lah menang 1 - 3. Tapi jadi finalist pun sangat mengujakan. :-) Thanks for the opportunity. 

By the way, gambar kitaorg diletakkan paling awal selepas signboard - ingat dah menang dah. Juara tu menang sebab dia resign dari kerja dan jaga anak.
